Why & What is Anu

Anu is a beautiful Sanskrit word. Sanskrit is a potent language with a variety of definitions for each word. Considering the many meanings of a word is a practice of expanding our perspective in itself. These words take on a life of their own as they touch our hearts through contemplation and integration.

Anu, come and follow along with the teachings of Yoga. What a gift it is to know these teachings. Anu implies an order to this science. A natural ripening process that occurs when we choose to take on the study of Yoga.

Yes, an order; however, we must discover our unique path. There are many ways, as many ways as there have been masters over time. As unique as the path you choose may be, you must walk it. No one can do your spiritual work for you; step by step, you must travel.

Rest assured, many have walked the path before; you are not alone. The path is lit and well-beaten by the love and devotion of those who have courageously walked before us.

Anu, these teachings are efficient and potent. They are piercing and exacting. They will cut you to the core and penetrate your heart. They are ancient, time-tested, and still highly applicable today in our modern world. Yoga is good medicine; it works. Let us have the courage to keep showing up.

Anu, flow with the grain; move with the guiding hand of Grace. Don't move against it; move with it. We don't have to hold it all up; we don't have to have it all together. We don't have to force or overdo. We don't have to will our life into what we think it should be. We can slacken the tension created by our effort and lighten up. Let these methods cook us open, strengthen, and soften us. Let them make space so Grace can move through us. Anu is getting out of your own way, clearing the blocks, and opening to the trusted hand of Grace.

I look forward to watching this word inspire, influence, and spread its light on our yoga community.

Come to Anu Yoga School for a class. We welcome all! And take great joy in sharing these beautiful teachings that have been passed down.
